Maharashtra is the third largest state and second most populous state in the country. Being on the west coast of India, it is blessed with mountains on one side and the mesmerizing Konkan coast on the other. A palette of landscapes that range from the majestic Sahyadri ranges of the Western Ghats and the sprawling coastline of the Konkan Coast, Maharashtra has its fair share of forts and palaces too. With palaces in Ratnagiri and Pune, these historic sites tell stories of the erstwhile Maratha rulers. There are centuries-old temples situated in places like Pandharpur, Ozar, and these sites are still rooted in their long-standing traditions, offering sanctuary to pilgrims. There are beautiful hill stations too like Mahabaleshwar, Lonaval,a and Matheran. The state has a very vibrant Marathi culture that has evolved and embraced other cultures that have come to call this state their home. Mumbai -the financial capital of India is situated here. The Bollywood film industry also finds its origins in Maharashtra. The best times to visit Maharashtra would be from June to March. The major airports are Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Aurangabad.
