Our chauffer / representative will welcome you and transfer you to City Hotel (35 km / 01 Hr) Bangalore, renamed as Bengaluru now is the capital city of Karnataka and a veritable melting pot of various races and cultures. This Garden City has well - laid out parks, gardens, long avenues of blossoming trees and salubrious climate. Emerging as the hi-tech capital of India, it still retains a charm that is totally Indian. Founded in 1537 by a local Chieftain Kempe Gowda, Bangalore has changed dramatically over the years. In the afternoon proceed for a short orientation tour of the city. Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace was built in 1791. It is located near K.R Market, is a two-storied ornate wooden structure with exquisitely carved pillars, arches and balconies. It houses a museum that contains artifacts relating to the Hyder-Tipu regime. Vidhana Soudha is the seat of the state legislature of Karnataka. It is an imposing granite building, built in the year 1956 in the 'Neo-Dravidian' style, incorporates elements of Indo-Saracenic, Rajasthani Jharokha and Dravidian styles. After breakfast leave for sightseeing of Shravanabelagola (145 Km/ 03 Hr) Shravanabelagola, a great centre for Jain culture is situated at a distance of about 100kms from Mysore and is famous for its colossal statue of Gomateshwara who is also referred to as Lord Bahubali. Carved out of monolithic stone, the imposing 17 metre high statue of Gomata towers stands in majestic splendour and is visible even from a distance of 20kms. Later drive to Hassan (50 km/01 Hr) - Hassan was derived from Simhasanapura, later it became Hassan. There is a temple in the heart of the city of Goddess Hasanamba, the temple will be opened for public once in a year. Hassan is popularly called as “poor man’s Ooty”. After breakfast , proceed to Hampi. (300 kms , 6.5 hrs) HAMPI, the seat of the famed VIJAYANAGARA empire was the capital of the largest empire in post-mogul India, covering several states. The empire reigned supreme under Krishnadevaraya, the Emperor. The Vijayanagara empire stretched over at least three states - Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. The destruction of Vijayanagar by marauding Moghul invaders was sudden, shocking and absolute. They reduced the city to ruins amid scenes of savage massacre and horrors beggaring description. After breakfast , proceed for the visit of Hampi Although in ruins today, this capital city once boasted riches known far beyond the shores of India. The ruins of Hampi of the 14th Century lies scattered in about 26 sq. km area, amidst giant boulders and vegetation. Protected by the tempestuous river Tungabhadra in the north and rocky granite ridges on the other three sides, the ruins silently narrate the story of grandeur splendor and fabulous wealth. The splendid remains of palaces and gateways of the broken city tells a tale of men infinite talent and power of creativity together with his capacity for senseless destruction. After an early breakfast drive to Badami (176 km / 04 Hr) with enroute visit at Aihole & Pattadakkal Aihole is the temple city is famous as the 'Cradle of Indian Temple Architecture'. Aihole has over 125 temples, all intricately carved and rich in detail. The oldest temple here, is perhaps the 5th century Lad Khan Temple. Pattadackal about 10 km from Aihole is a World Heritage site of early Chalukyan architecture. These temples are built in the seventh and eighth centuries. Continue drive to Badami and check in at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Badami. Badami is famous for its four cave temples - all hewn out of sand stone on the precipice of a hill. Legend has it there were two demon siblings Vatapi and Ilvala, who had a trick by which they could kill and make a meal of mendicants passing by. Their tricks worked until Agastya muni came by and counter-tricked them and brought an end to Vatapi's life. Two of the hills in Badami are supposed to represent the demons Ilvalan and Vatapi. Cave 1 is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Cave 2 is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and highlights the carvings and incarnations of Varaha (boar) and Vamana (dwarf). Cave 3 the grandest cave showcasing sculptures of Vishnu in different avatars, Narasimha (Vishnu as Man-Lion), Varaha, Harihara (Shiva Vishnu) and as Trivikrama and Cave 4 is the only Jain cave housing statues of the Jain Tirthankaras in different postures. Also visit Badami Fort about 2 km from the city on a hilltop. Overnight stay at hotel in Badami.
