West Bengal
West Bengal was formerly part of the larger state of Bengal which was partitioned into East and West Bengal by the British. East Bengal went on to become East Pakistan and what we know today as the independent nation of Bangladesh. The state of West Bengal is home to various ethnicities, cultures, religions, people, and languages. This is due to the geographic and historic significance of the region which includes beautiful landscapes, ports, snow-clad mountains, tea gardens, lush green forests, and coastlines. The Sundarbans, Tiger Hill, the Howrah Bridge, the Tea Gardens of Darjeeling, the Botanical gardens of Calcutta are some of the famous tourist spots which offer an insight into the vast culture and history of West Bengal. The best time to visit is from October to March. The major airports are in Kolkata and Bagdogra.
