Andaman and Nicobar
A group of islands that are blessed with stunningly beautiful beaches, pristine lagoons of turquoise blue waters, and a lot of history, Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a little piece of heaven nestled around 1,400 km away from the east coast of India. The union territory comprises a total of 572 islands, only 37 of which are inhabited, and only a few of these are open to tourists. Port Blair is the capital city of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and it serves as a connecting point between the various islands via multiple daily ferries. Some of the prominent islands are Havelock and Neil Island which is famous among tourists for their pearly white sandy beaches, palm-lined shores. Tourists can also indulge in snorkelling and diving activities here to explore underwater marine life. Andamans is also known for its prison referred to during India’s freedom struggle as ’Kaala Pani’. The prison was used for imprisoning freedom fighters.
